From Problem to Innovation
Our journey towards creating Basalt began with a simple observation - the crevice in our Tenon desk's desktop slot. We noticed that this crevice was the perfect size for a stationary monitor to fit in. That's when we decided to design the Basalt with an ergotron lx arm, allowing users to easily mount their monitors on the side of the desk. With Basalt, you can have multiple monitors set up without taking up valuable desk space. While designed to be able to fit many standard clamp-style monitor arms, we realized that placing a regular monitor stand on top of this grovemade desk shelf slot didn't quite fit our vision of a clutter-free, minimalist workspace. This realization ignited our desire to transform this slot into something extraordinary - a foundation for a custom-made monitor stand that seamlessly integrates with your desk. The ergotron lx stands provide excellent support for monitors.
Overcoming difficulty
It goes without saying that simply placing an Ergotron LX monitor stand on a desk is a little more straightforward than what Basalt sets out to do with its range of monitors and mounts. Creating Basalt was a challenge that required creative thinking and a deep understanding of our Tenon desk's structural features, including the mount for the Ergotron LX and the height adjustment for the stationary monitor. While our desk was designed with modularity in mind, a fully integrated monitor stand, like the Ergotron LX mount, wasn't something we even considered.
Our passion for innovation drove us to find a solution that seamlessly integrates Basalt into the desk using what modularity systems we had to work with. With a stroke of luck, the Ergotron LX allows for attachment of single or dual monitors to the rear part of the frame. This stable solution works in tandem with the desktop slot. Maybe Basalt was just meant to be.
